Disposable plastic products will be banned after 2021

The European parliament voted Thursday to ban the use of disposable plastic products from 2021 in a bid to curb the growing pollution of Marine and ecological environment by plastic waste.

Plastic tableware, thin plastic bags, plastic cotton swabs, straws and other disposable plastic products can be seen everywhere in life. With people's pursuit of a convenient lifestyle and the development of tourism, the use of disposable plastic products is becoming more and more common, thus worsening the pollution of the environment and the ocean.

In response to the global dangers of plastic waste, the European commission in May submitted a proposal to control plastic waste, hoping to ban the use of disposable plastic products such as tableware. The EU will ban the production and sale of disposable plastic products such as tableware, cotton swabs and straws from 2021 instead of paper, straw or hard plastic that can be reused, according to a proposal approved by the European parliament.Plastic bottles will be collected separately according to the existing recycling model;Member states are required to recycle 90 percent of their disposable plastic bottles by 2025.
