Jecheon fire, flammable exterior materials exacerbate the fire

According to Yonhap, Local time at 3:53 pm on December 21, a 8-story sport center in South Korea Gyeongsangbuk-do Shimok-dong suddenly caught fire, the building was burnt black.

Chungcheong local fire department speculated that the fire caused by a car which parked in the parking lot at ground floor, and then spread to the entire building. It is known that 29 people were killed and 29 were injured. Of the 29 dead, 20 were in the 2 - floor sauna of the building when the fire occurred, and most of the victims died of asphyxiation by inhaling smoke. Of the 29 injured, 22 men and 7 women were included. The injured are now being sent to the hospital for treatment. This is the most worst fire in South Korea since 2008.

Experts say the fire is similar to the Grenfell Tower fire in London, which took place in June this year. Both the two building facades use flammable materials, causing the fire to spread rapidly. The material for this building's exterior wall is sandwich panel which use foam as core with concrete at both side, that is extremely flammable in the event of a fire.
