A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck northern gotabato province on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on October 16, local time. Smoke billowed from a fire at a shopping center in northern gotabato province shortly after the powerful earthquake. It is not clear if the fire was triggered by an earthquake, officials said.
