South Korea Pyeongchang 2018

Winter Olympics Resort Design

The Seoul Seoul Architecture and Art Practice Program unveiled the design of a beachfront resort designed for the 2018 Korean PyeongChang Winter Olympics. The hotel is located in a major tourist area in eastern Korea and is surrounded by many other tourist attractions.

The 2018 Winter Olympics Beachfront Resort Hotel has 946 rooms designed and covers an area of approximately 29,493 square meters. The hotel will offer an event venue combining ocean and mountain leisure. The hotel is about 5 kilometers from the Olympic venues and the Olympic facilities area. Most of the Olympic venues and facilities will be completed in 2016.

The design of the hotel is inspired by the ecological structure of plankton, and the twisted circular form space structure provides a large space frame. The hotel consists of private apartments and rooms, in addition to a swimming pool suspended in the building link, the equipment will be installed on the top floor of the hotel, and the lower level will be fitted with LED lights to form a multimedia facade.

The structure close to the ground is in the form of traditional Korean houses, and the designer hopes to use modern techniques to form a village with traditional elements and to set up restaurants and retail stores.
