The largest transportation infrastructure project in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was completed
On November 5th, the inauguration ceremony of the Pakistani PKM Expressway Project (Sukur-Multan section), the largest transportation infrastructure project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor under construction by Chinese architecture, was held in Islamabad.
Pakistan's PKM Expressway is a key project of the “Belt and Road” and the largest transportation infrastructure project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The PKM Expressway (Sukur-Multan section) runs from Sukur, Sindh, south to Multan, the economic center of Punjab, with a total length of 392 km. It is the main artery of traffic between Pakistan and North and South. Designed at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, it is the first two-lane 6-lane expressway with intelligent traffic functions in Pakistan.
The project was undertaken by China Construction Group with a contract value of approximately US$2.889 billion. Since the official start of construction in August 2016, the CCT team has set high starting point, high standard construction, high level management, high quality project completion tasks, and has become a typical demonstration project of China-Pakistan friendly cooperation.
